Now in its 5th year, our integrated partnership with NYC Parks, AT&T and NRG continues across all 5 NYC boroughs. Through the Labor Day weekend, we managed nearly 40 units and multiple neighborhood BID, conservancy, park, and concert venue locations. Norton Edwards team has deployed, serviced, rebuilt, redesigned, and promoted the act of solar charging in nearly every scenario conceivable. It’s a program we love and we hope to see continually grow as off-grid smart city solutions become the norm.
The idea began in response to the need for emergency and off-the-grid power solutions post-[Hurricane] Sandy, when AT&T collaborated with the City of New York and the Department of Parks and Recreation, (lauded) local industrial design team Pensa, leading solar tech manufacturer Goal Zero, and Norton Edwards to execute a pilot campaign that brought free solar mobile charging to all five NYC boroughs.
